CAMPING & THERAPEUTIC RECREATION


Employment: Internships

 

The League Camping & Therapeutic Recreation understands the benefits of learning outside of the classroom. As a result, our Camping & Therapeutic Recreation department is proud to offer a variety of internship opportunities. Interns work with our Camping & Therapeutic Recreation professionals including our Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialists and our Certified Parks & Recreation Professionals.

Our internship opportunities are attractive to students who want to learn how to provide services for all ages and abilities. The experience will be tailored toward the students' professional needs and interests. Interns have had articles published in magazines such as Parks and Recreation, published by NRPA, and Camping, which is a publication of ACA. All of the summer interns receive free room and board and a small stipend.

Year Round Internships:

We offer year-round internships that will work our therapeutic recreation and winter camping programs. During the year our Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist facilitate winter camping programs and a variety of assisted travel opportunities to places such as Seattle, Disney, Las Vegas, the Caribbean and other points of interest.

Summer General Internships:

Students majoring in recreation management, psychology, rehabilitation counseling, and other allied health & sciences can costume tailor their internships to there particular interest and focus. Working with camp professionals, interns set objects that meet there professional and educational goals.

Therapeutic Recreation Internships:

Therapeutic Recreation interns learn about facilitating and developing programs for people with disabilities. TR interns work with Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialists to administer assessments, write intervention plans and document progress. Interns also explore professional interests such as programming, case studies and administration.
