Operated by the Maryland Committee for Children, LOCATE: Child Care has been helping families with children who have special needs find child care for many years. It is a free service to parents, and it has a complete database of all licensed child care providers and centers. LOCATE will refer families to child care programs that have openings and experience in working with children who have special needs.

CJE offers free special education consultation to are preschools, day schools and congregational schools. Upon recommendation by an administrator, teacher or parent, a special education consultant can perform a classroom observation. He or she may then recommend specific resources and offer advice for curriculum modifications, classroom behavior management and lesson planning for students with special needs. The consultant can also refer a family to an appropriate Jewish educational environment and recommend tutors.

Consists of three specialized childcare programs serving children up to age five who are medically fragile, developmentally delayed or disabled. (Within My World, Someplace Special, and World of Wonder)

Offers the only medically-based childcare programs in central Maryland

Offers on-site physical, occupational, speech/language therapy and specialized instruction

Offers social work services including parent-child and family counseling, family resource identification, and transitional services

Maintains a high staff-to-child ratio that includes nurses, social workers, teachers and specially trained child care

Those who should apply would be anyone with a severe, chronic disability who needs residential, day or support services. Disability occurred prior to their 21 st birthday. Once accepted you can contact agencies such as BARC, Creative Option, etc for access to Rolling Access Funds up to $2000.00 a year. In addition, there are other programs that offer respite care services separate and apart from DDA and the Rolling Access funds (Kennedy Krieger Institute). 2002 BARC has the grant for Baltimore City and County Respite Care money.
