Since its inception in 1937, Camp Greentop has been meeting the needs of children and adults with physical, emotional, cognitive, and multiple disabilities. Camp Greentop is one of the oldest residential camps in America designed specifically for people with special needs.
Camp Greentop is accredited by the American Camp Association and is licensed by the State of Maryland for Youth Camp Certification.
Camp Greentop is an all-inclusive residential camp for people with all levels of ability with a focus on what our campers can do. Every new camper goes through an acceptance process which includes an interview with a camp administrator. These interviews give us the insight to support each camper and to make their camp experience successful.
During a camp session we have 65 campers with ranging levels of ability. Our traditional youth camp programs are designed for campers ages 7 to 21, while campers age 18 and up enjoy our adult vacation sessions.
Our campers are supported by over 85 trained camp staff. Camp Greentop offers a 2:1 camper to counselor ratio with the ability to offer 1:1 support to some campers.
Traditional Youth Camp Camp Greentop's traditional youth camp offers campers ages 7 to 21 a rustic camp experience in a supportive environment. Campers travel with their cabin groups to traditional camp activities such as swimming, arts and crafts, nature, horseback riding, music, sports and games, and more. Structured camp days include three activities in the morning and three activities in the afternoon. Each day ends with an evening program such as a dance, campfire, talent show, or group games.
Adult Vacation Sessions Camp Greentop offers adult campers the ability to be more independent and choose their activities. Our adult sessions offer a relaxed atmosphere. Campers choose traditional camp programs in which to participate such as swimming, pottery, music, sports, and much more. In addition, we offer adult campers the opportunity to participate in day trips. Each day, two trips leave camp. Adult campers choose from trips including baseball games, the rodeo, dinner theaters, jazz concerts, the race track, tubing, fishing, and more. While the abilities of our campers may vary, our camp staff assist campers in making their daily activity choices as well as modifying the activity to each camper's individualized ability.
