Activity Assistant (Medical Day)
Position: Activity Assistant
Department: Medical Day
Reports to: Therapeutic Integration Program Manager
Exempt/Non Exempt: Non-Exempt
Summary:
The Activity Assistant, under the supervision of the Manager, Therapeutic Recreation, is responsible for the implementation of all therapeutic/recreational programs as assigned.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Participate in the implementation of quality educational and recreational programming in these categories: fine and gross motor skills, cognition, community integration activities, life skills, and therapeutic recreation

Conduct scheduled activities according to program schedule and protocol

Assist in developing topics and activities based on the interests of the participants

Participate actively in supervision of Medical Day program participants

Participate actively as part of a multidisciplinary team that delivers services to The League
-
Assist participants in the therapeutic pool and on trips as required

Assist in ensuring all activity areas and supplies are kept in a clean and tidy manner

Meet with recreation staff as needed to plan and coordinate activities

Improve the quality of participants’ lives by working with them directly in the delivery of quality programming
Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide feedback to the Manager, Therapeutic Recreation on assigned activities based on the participants’ enthusiasm and participation

Participate in League meetings, in-services and trainings as required

Show dependability by being punctual and maintaining consistent attendance

Give appropriate notice for time off or illness

Additional responsibilities as assigned by the Therapeutic Recreation Coordinator and/or Manager, Therapeutic Recreation

Experience and Qualification Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent
-
Minimum of two years’ experience working with people with disabilities and/or other special populations and 1 year of experience in the recreation/activity field
