This position provides pre-vocational and life skills training to adults with Developmental Disabilities consistent with each participants Person Centered Plan. This is done through verbal and physical direction, demonstration and setting a good example. Skills areas include self-help, daily living skills, safety skills, socialization, leisure, basic academics, motor skills, communication and behavior management. These skills will be taught in small groups at a variety of community settings.

The League for People with Disabilities is seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to work individually with a young man with Autism and intellectual limitations in his home in Pikesville and in the nearby community. The young man is mostly self-directing, able to communicate to some degree through writing and able to use a Windows computer enjoying YouTube videos. The focus would be to help with activities of daily living, mealtimes and broaden his range of in-home and outside activities.

We are in search of a compassionate Support Counselor (DSP) for our Youth Autism Services program. This position will work with a young woman with Autism and Seizure Disorder in her home and the nearby community. The position is located in the Nottingham, MD area. Must have experience handling seizures, lifting, transferring and toileting. The main focus is to assist with improving socialization, communication and self-help skills.

The Director of Annual Giving will be the lead staff person for management of The League’s activities that will be a part of the plan to reach The League’s annual development revenue goals. This includes direct mail, electronic solicitation, event management, maintaining the Development master calendar, and the overall management of the donor stewardship program. The responsibilities in this role will take place under direction of the Vice President, Development and will align with The League’s strategic plan.

The Manager, Community Integration will provide outreach, supervision, coordination, and quality assurance for the Day Habilitation Program. The Manager will ensure that Person Centered Plans/Goals are being implemented effectively, appropriate services delivered, and documentation requirements are completed. The Manager will reach out to area businesses to secure sites for Day Habilitation groups to visit.

Responsible for oversight of the total uninterrupted operation and condition of all League buildings, grounds and properties. Supervision and training of housekeeping, maintenance staff and Workforce Development trainees.

Personal Support Counselor

The Direct Support Professional, also known as a Personal Support Counselor is responsible for implementing the assigned participant(s) plan of care, working with the participant and their family to improve socialization, self-help and communication skills. The Support Counselor will work with assigned participant(s) in the community and/or the participant’s home, depending on the participant’s needs.

Youth Autism Support Counselor (DSP)

Responsible for implementing the plan of care for children with Autism. Working with participants and their family to improve socialization, self-help, communication and/or pre-vocational skills.  Work will be performed at various locations including The League buildings, and other community locations.
