Program Assistant 2 / Activities Staff (Medical Day)
Position: Program Assistant 2 – Activities Staff
Department: Adult Medical Day
Reports to: Activities Director, Adult Medical Day
Exempt/Non- Exempt: Non-Exempt
Hours: 10am – 2pm
Preferred Qualifications:
-
High School Diploma or equivalent
-
Minimum of 3 years of experience working with people with disabilities
-
1 year of experience in the recreation/activity field.
-
Ability to work well with others.
-
Effective verbal and written communication.
-
Basic Computer skills.
-
One year experience working with disabled population in a day or residential setting.
Summary: The Program Assistant 2 is responsible for the implementation of all therapeutic/ recreational programs as assigned by the Activities Director and will assist with daily living tasks to the Medical Day participants as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Give appropriate notice for time off or illness

Show dependability by being punctual and maintaining consistent attendance
-
Maintain clean and safe environment
-
Notify nurse for medical concerns noticed or voiced by participant
-
Notify appropriate staff of any Medical Day concerns that are noticed or voiced by participants.
-
Must work well with other staff to meet the needs of the participants.
-
Notify appropriate staff if any Medical Day participants attempt to leave building without notification.

Maintain appropriate and positive relationships with participants
Additional Duties and Responsibilities:
-
Implements daily programs planned by the Activities Director which covers, but not limited to, the following categories: Fine Motor Skills, Gross Motor Skills, Cognitive, Inclusion Services, Life Skills, and Therapeutic Recreation.

Assist in developing topics and activities based on the interests of the participants.

Facilitates classes provided by Medical Day and planned by Activities Director.

Assist with the distribution of Activities information via handing out the Monthly Newsletter, handing out special events flyers, sharing information during Morning Announcements, etc.

Assists with appropriate decorations for themed activities or holidays.

Provide feedback to the Activities Director on assigned activities based on the participants’ enthusiasm and participation

Ensures the Daily Activity Plan is followed and participants are participating in activities of choice.

Assist participants with activities of daily living: Assist with handing out meals; Feed or assist participants with meals as needed
-
Monitor activity at the door when assigned.

Monitor participants while on League transportation when assigned

Assist in ensuring all Medical Day activity areas and supplies are kept in a clean and tidy manner

Participate in various in-service training's
