Position: Food Service Program Assistant                                    

Department: Adult Medical Day

Reports to: Medical Day Office Manager

Job Type:  Part Time

Exempt/Non Exempt:  Non-exempt



The Food Service Program Assistant (FSPA), under the supervision of the Office Manager and Program Director, will follow guidelines of the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) and Health Department to ensure all health & safety measures are met daily and compliance is maintained.  The FSPA will also ensure that meals are served in accordance to the monthly preset menus.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensures that all meals from the vendor are in accordance with the monthly preset menus

  • Maintains sufficient kitchen supplies in the quantities necessary for daily food service and communicates with the Office Manager when supply orders need to be submitted

  • Oversees the daily meal service to ensure that all participants are served in accordance to their diets, physician orders and preferences

  • Prepares and monitors meal service

  • Follows the guidelines established by the CACFP and Health Department to ensure all health and safety measures are met and compliance is maintained

  • Performs light housekeeping duties to ensure that cleanliness of the kitchen and dining area are maintained

  • Actively participates as part of a multidisciplinary team that delivers Medical Day services to The League’s clients

  • Communicates concerns or suggestions related to kitchen to the Office Manager

  • Records temperatures for food and refrigerator daily

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Participates in the departmental and Company quality assurance programs

  • Communicates, develops and implements best practices with maintaining kitchen area

  • Additional responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications Requirements:

  • Minimum age of 18

  • Ability to lift participants up to 150 lbs. in accordance with established safe lifting procedures

  • Ability to work with others

  • Effective verbal communication


Educational Requirements and/or Experience:

  • ServSafe Certification

  • A minimum of three years of experience working with people with disabilities.
