Lifeguard (Wellness Center)

Department: Wellness Center

Reports to: Manager, Wellness Center 

Exempt/Non Exempt: Non Exempt

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • In order to fulfill the mission of The League, the lifeguard must:

  • Supervise the aquatic area, using lifeguarding best practices and provide a safe environment for all participants.

  • Clean the pool deck, pool, whirlpool and equipment.

  • Inspect equipment at least daily, report equipment that needs replacement/ repair

  • Ensure all pool equipment is in good repair.

  • Record and maintain accurate pool/whirlpool chemical readings and reports, according to the Baltimore City Health Department and League supervision.

  • Assist the Manager of Wellness and other pool staff with the daily operations of the aquatic center.

  • Advocate for The League and people with disabilities

  • Additional responsibilities as assigned by the Manager, Wellness Center

  • Demonstrate the 5 Core Values of The League (Accountability, Participant Focus, Quality, Independence and Mutual Respect).

Qualification Requirements:

  • Must have current lifeguard, CPR and first aid certifications.  Excellent communication and socialization skills required.  Experience working with the disabled population is desired.

Educational and/or Experience:

  • Lifeguard Certification

  • CPR and First Aid Certifications

  • League Inservice:  Universal Precautions / Disability Awareness

  • Position allows for series of Hepatitis Vaccine
