The League uses various facilities to accomodate our year-round programming.  We are lucky to have established a great relationship with the Catoctin Mountain Park and have been utilizing Camp Greentop during the summer months since 1937.  Camp Round Meadow, located just around the corner from Camp Greentop, is used during the rest of the year for our weekend respite programming.  YMCA Camp Letts provides a great location for our Winter Camp program each winter.

Camp Greentop is located on 200 beautiful acres in the Catoctin Mountain National Park, six miles west of Thurmont, Maryland. Camp Greentop is run by the Department of Camping & Recreation at The League for People with Disabilities in Baltimore, Maryland with the cooperation of the National Park Service.

Built in 1937 as part of FDR's new deal legislation, Camp Greentop was one of the first camps specially designed for people with disabilities. Camp Greentop is a rustic camp, rich with history.

Complete with paved accessible trails, campers are able to get from their cabins to program areas with ease. Camp Greentop's property includes a large dining hall and recreation hall, 12 cabins with comfort stations conveniently located, office, nature and craft huts and a large sports field we call the "Greentop."

Camp Greentop is considered to be a historic site, and all buildings are the original structures.  Cabins sleep 10 people, and offer built-in beds.  Though there are limited outlets throughout the cabins, we are able to charge any wheelchairs or electronic supplies brought by campers.  Cabins are grouped by units;  Each unit of three cabins also contains one comfort station, equipped with several toilets and community showers.

The League Pioneer program takes place at Walnut Springs, a campsite located just ½ mile from Camp Greentop’s main site.  This site consists of a large clearing for setting up tents, a campfire circle, and a pavilion with several picnic tables.  There’s also many wonderful hiking trails leading from the site.  While there is a portable toilet at the site, there is no running water.  Each day, Pioneer campers travel up to the main site to wash up.
