Position: Manager, Individual Support & Respite Services

Reports to: Director, Autism & Community Integration Services

Summary: The Manager, Individual Support & Respite Services will provide supervision, coordination and case management for the Youth Autism Services Intensive Individual Support Services (IISS) program. The Manager will ensure that individual goals are being achieved, appropriate service delivered, documentation requirements are completed, and family needs are met.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with Administrative Coordinator to recruit, screen, hire, and train Support Counselors and Family Consultants.

  • Demonstrate sound judgement in making appropriate “matches” between staff and participants, ensuring that family/participant preferences are mirrored as closely as possible.

  • Supervise Support Counselors and Family Consultants, and complete required supervision documentation, in accordance with MSDE and Autism Waiver regulations.

  • Develop and monitor Support Counselor work schedules to ensure family/participant needs are being met and Autism Waiver services regulations are adhered to.

  • Participate in intake meetings, participant team meetings and Individual Treatment Plan meetings as needed.

  • Conduct Family Consultation Meetings, ALP, and/or Treatment Plan Meetings as needed.

  • Assist with the developing and coordinating training for Youth Autism Services staff, ensuring that they complete mandatory trainings within required timeframes.

  • Coordinate in home, community-based and facility-based respite requests by scheduling staff, completing documentation and providing supervision.

  • Track and complete timely evaluations of all Support Counselors and Family Consultants, and coordinate with TI Manager regarding performance input.

  • Track and ensure that all Treatment Plan Meetings are held on time (annually), that all required forms are updated, and that all 6 month reviews are completed within the required timeframes.

  • Review Treatment Plans for quality and accuracy, prior to submitting to Director.

  • Ensure that ETO is kept up-to-date, and review IISS Progress Notes/Logs for content, quality, and timeliness of entry.

  • Actively participate in Quarterly Youth Autism Services Staff Meetings, including assisting the Director with powerpoint preparation, content, and actual presentation.

  • Attend ongoing trainings and meetings with the Maryland State Department of Education.

  • Ensure all required reports are filed with MSDE, DHMH and Service Coordinators.

  • Implement State of Maryland DHMH, MSDE and League policies.

  • Develop positive working relationships with MSDE, DHMH, School systems and all other involved parties.

  • Assist in creating a progressive, safe and culturally competent workplace.

  • Fully participate in the Youth Autism Services Management team, and the League Managers/Directors Team.

  • Additional responsibilities as assigned by Director or VP.

Qualification Requirements:

  • The ability to work with diverse populations

  • Access to a reliable automobile and a valid driver’s license with no more than 2 points (must also have at least 2 years of driving experience).

Educational and / or Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in supervising staff direct care staff in a positive and productive manner.

  • Five years of experience working with people with disabilities, with particular emphasis on autism.

  • Master's Degree in Social Work, Counseling, or related field OR Bachelor's Degree with Special Education Certification.
