Manager, MS Day

Position:  Manager, MS Day Program

Reports to:  VP, Medical Programs/CNO

Job Type:  Full Time

Exempt/ Non Exempt: Exempt

Hours: Monday – Friday 8am-4pm

 

Summary:  The Manager, MS Day Program will be responsible for the planning and implementation of all educational and recreational programming for MS Day participants.  The Manager, MS Day will also provide supervision to the Recreation/Activities Coordinator(s) as well as to ensure activities are carried out in a safe and appropriate manner and according to League Policy.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Designs a written, planned program of daily activities that are age appropriate and culturally relevant for individuals served

  • Develops community activities and field trips that meet the participants’ specific needs, preferences, and interests with each individuals’ cognitive and physical limitations being noted in the development of activities

  • Develops activities that stimulate interests, rekindle motivation, and provide opportunities for a variety of types and levels of involvement, including small and large group activities

  • Prepares a monthly calendar of activities to be posted in the center that include physical exercise, rest, social interaction personal care and mental stimulation

  • Develops and facilitates assessments and ensures all program notes and other documentation are completed in a timely and accurate manner

  • Supervises and provides feedback to the Recreation/Activities Coordinator(s) and other staff as assigned

  • Facilitates monthly meeting for participant input on activities and programming

  • Coordinates speakers and special guests that are of special interest to the group

  • Participates in Interdisciplinary Team meetings to ensure quality and individual services are given to each participant

  • Performs outreach to current and potential participants to ensure continued growth of the program

  • Participates in marketing efforts as directed
     

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Orders and organizes program supplies, within program budget and with proper administrative approval

  • Participates in in-services and seminars to maintain and improve professional skills

  • Participates in departmental and Company meetings as required

  • Shows dependability by being punctual and maintaining consistent attendance

  • Meets regularly with supervisor and direct to ensure consistency in performance and standars

  • Takes active role in leading and teaching others to appropriately lead activities

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualification and Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Therapeutic Recreation or similar field

  • Three (3) year’s experience in planning and implementing  programs for people with disabilities and/or other special populations

  • Ability to work with a diverse population

  • CPR and First Aid certification required

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

  • Supervisory experience preferred
